Garden Studio

Located in the garden of an original Sears Catalog house of the early 1920’s, the form of the Garden Studio offers a sympathetic contrast to the existing and surrounding houses. While the roof slope matches that of the existing house and the texture of the cedar siding is at home in the urban context, the form of the Studio is decidedly modern. The form resulted from the clients desire to maximize the rear garden. In order to do so, we held the building tight to the setback line.
